I've heard lot's of these type of things over the years.
People in lifts, a really involved one about someone receiving a strange package by post and numerous others, most of which I've forgotten!!
We even made some of our own up whilst sitting in the pub.
We also had a protocol which was the person setting the conundrum could only answer the questions "yes" no" or "irrelevant"
They all involve what these days is called "thinking out of the box".
The best one I can remember is this:-
A man's car stops outside a hotel.
He realises immediately he is now bankrupt.
Explain.
