The bottom line is they need massive numbers of Qubits to go beyond what classical supercomps can do today, even what they could do a hundred years from now if they could do a trillion trillion calcs per second on a classical comp they couldn't do what Qubits could do if they could get say a million of those things working together and noise free with quantum correction. I think the max right now is 64 Qubits which is enough to prove the concept but not enough to make breakthroughs in science.
