I'm starting to sound like a nag, but here's another one already mentioned.

On the "My Home" page, at the bottom is a link to the "My Performance" page. This is a list of all my opponents. It appears to be in alphabetical order, but it actually is broken up into numerous groups of opponents, and each smaller group is sorted in alphabetical order. So I think the smaller groups need to be changed into just one big group, and then sorted alphabetically. Hope that makes sense!

One other thing I noticed missing is the little number indicator that appears on the browser tab(s) when someone's made a move. Super useful.!
    This has now been reintroduced.

This now has a fix, so the "My Performance" is even better than the current production implementation. Players with a large number of games will experience some slowness though - this is the most complex page by far for query performance.

Automated reminders go out to non-moving players anyway, so this was dropped for this release.

The automated email are as follows :

"Don't lose on time! Time is nearly up in your game against John Doe"

"The clock is ticking....and you are about to lose on time!
Only 10 hours and 30 minutes remaining when this email was sent!"

Thanks again everyone who has had input so far.

The original intention was to close the beta for next week as no development will be taking place, but it appears relatively stable right now, so I will keep it up unless a serious issue occurs.

Outstanding raised issues have not been forgotten.

So do keep posting feedback here, but response time will be slower and issues will not be patched for at least a week.

For the future, once development resumes and remaining issues have been closed out, then a short open beta will commence prior to the full release.

Is there a plan to update the FAQ section? I have found one thing that should be changed.

I recently recruited a new member for RHP, and explained to him that he needed to take a little time to think about what he wanted as a username, as it cannot be changed. He could change his email or password if he needed to, but the username could not be changed.

And then just a few days later I discovered in the beta that he now has 30 days to change it, and that if he becomes a subscriber he could change it once a year.

The beta FAQ username topic is not updated with this new username policy.

Here are the two places where I found the conflict in information. It's nothing very serious, but still should be consistent.

Beta: FAQ: How do I change my user name?
Unfortunately this is not possible. For consistency and to prevent confusion for other users, the registered name must remain as it was entered when you signed up. Subscribers can request that their name be modified to correct spelling and capitalisation.

    Beta: My settings/Account settings:
Account names can be updated by new users once within first 30 days. Subscribers can also update once every 365 days.

Here's something that could be added to the FAQ, on the section that provides the formula and explanation of how rating points are determined for the players when a game is completed. For those who go crazy trying to figure out the formula, this chart may be helpful and easier to understand. It has been posted in the help forum a few times over the years, but would be much easier to find if it were in the FAQ.

*** It probably should be verified for accuracy, just in case. πŸ™‚

    Rating Chart

Point Change is based on who wins the game:

H - Higher rated player wins that number of points.

    D - Draw,
Higher rated player loses that number of points,
Lower rated player gains that number of points.

L - Lower rated player wins that number of points.

New update to the beta :

    - Live chess play is available from the beta. (Some new code pushed to the RHP production site too, to enable this.)

-Browsing and searching live games is now available, similar in function to current production, but with infinite scroll instead.

-iOS specific rubber-band scrolling when page dragged prevented. So, on iPhones/iPad, the page should be locked to the screen size horizontally, without any further scrolling if dragged about once the page is fully loaded.

-Styling change - lists of label/values pairs changed from bolded labels to bolded values.

    - DM's on mobile. Choosing a chat now closes the inbox/outbox list automatically.

    - Pages move side to side when dragged by my finger rather than being static within the screen. Actually game page in original does move but the forum thread listing page is fixed. I like the “fixed” feel, it is more substantive somehow. I hope this makes sense I’m probably using incorrect terms.
    Can you re-review this please?

I've made a few quick edits to correct obviously incorrect information (such as account name changes) and added processes. (archiving games).

I've also added direct links to relevant settings pages. No idea why this was not always the case!

A full review is definitely required though.
