If the Bible was published today for the first time, would Christianity still develop and emerge as one of the world’s major religions?

I think the publishers would drop the OT and drop the books in the NT that come after the Gospels. Simple messages. Morally coherent commandments. A code for living.

The first thing that would happen is that it would be banned in America's Bible Belt. Too much sex and violence.

Christianity was well established long before the 1615 King James Bible.

The development of Christianity has precious little to do with the Bible back then, so yes, seeing as how it was already established long before Gutenberg (1452) or any others got involved.

For that matter, Christianity was established before the Council of Nicea in AD 325 when the scrolls were canonized.

Fox News would run a segment calling it leftist propaganda for featuring a commie named Jesus pushing an anti-capitalist socialist agenda.

"This Jesus shmuck just feeds these jobless moochers who are probably too lazy to get a job. Who'd ever follow a guy like that?"

<<Moore [former editor in chief of Christianity Today] told NPR in an interview released Tuesday that multiple pastors had told him they would quote the Sermon on the Mount, specifically the part that says to “turn the other cheek,” when preaching. Someone would come up after the service and ask, “Where did you get those liberal talking points?”

“What was alarming to me is that in most of these scenarios, when the pastor would say, ‘I’m literally quoting Jesus Christ,’ the response would not be, ‘I apologize.’ The response would be, ‘Yes, but that doesn’t work anymore. That’s weak,’” Moore said.>>

DeSantis would probably call Florida the place where Jesus wokeism goes to die.

Since Trump first announced he was running, I thought, "Oh, good luck getting the evangelical vote", and now look where they are.

I think you are mistaken and not interpreting properly what Jesus said. Jesus encouraged hard work and did not encourage laziness. In the story of the Good Samaritan the man was beaten up and robbed. He was not lazy or unemployed. In the case of the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus, Lazarus had a medical condition which at that time probably could not be cured.

Neither did Jesus condemn the rich or buying and selling. These are necessary for progress. What Jesus condemned was the selfish rich, or greedy materialistic and worldly rich that lead people astray from the things of God. The rich must give to the poor and needy and live a selfless life.

I feel a better question would be,
Could we have a third testament?
    Could that happen?

You've said before the reason for poverty is laziness, stupidity, etc.

The rich must give to the poor and needy and live a selfless life.

It's honestly surprising that you'd mention this rather than trashing the poor like you usually do.

Not to worry, I have faith in you. I'm sure you'll remember to call poor people worthless scum any moment now.

Seriously I think you are not a clear thinker and you are being dishonest. Something is wrong with you.

Laziness and stupidity are two reasons for poverty, and I never said there cannot be other reasons. The bible says this clearly and if you read Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Psalms you would find many many passages and stories supporting this. Google it. If you want me to I can post the references. So saying what the bible says clearly, is not trashing the poor. Its the truth. It may not be palatable but it is the truth.

It is also true that the rich needs to give to the poor and help, instead of being caught up with worshiping their money. The love of money is the sin. Having lots of money is not the sin.

I never said poor people were worthless trash .. another example of you being dishonest.

Perfection is not a state Jesus expects anyone to reach. Trying your best is what is required.

As for this 'woke' business .. this is not part of the vocabulary where we are from. Thats American jargon for something I am not clear on neither am I interested in US culture and politics.
