Robert Kempiński is a Polish chess Grandmaster (GM) who was born on July 11, 1977. He earned his Grandmaster title in 1999 from FIDE, the international chess federation. Kempiński has experienced significant success in several major chess tournaments throughout his career.
In the national arenas, he won the Polish U18 Championship in 1995, and also won silver in the Polish U20 Championship the same year. In the European chess zone, Kempiński was the U18 Champion in both 1995 and 1996. In 2000, he won the Akiba Rubinstein Memorial tournament, and in 2001, he emerged as the victor in the Polish Blitz Chess Championship.
Kempiński's international success includes securing third place in the World U18 Championship in 1995. In 2001, he tied for first place in the New York Open, and in 2002, he won the Cannes Open. In 2007, he emerged a winner in two international competitions - the Hasselbacken Open in Stockholm and the Najdorf Memorial in Warsaw. He also won the Munich Open in 2008 and 2009.
In the 37th Chess Olympiad in Turin in 2006, Kempiński represented Poland on the third board, earning a notable success against the highly ranked Israeli team. In the 38th Chess Olympiad in Dresden in 2008, he represented Poland on the second board.
