Bartłomiej Macieja is a prominent Polish chess Grandmaster. He was born on October 4, 1977, in Warsaw, Poland. Macieja started playing chess at the age of five and went on to win numerous awards throughout his career. He captured his first significant international success in 1999 when he clinically tied for first in the Rubinstein Memorial.
In World Championship Tournaments, Macieja reached the quarterfinals twice, in 2001 in Moscow and in 2004 in Tripoli. Besides these successes, he has also participated in four Chess Olympiads, representing Poland.
Macieja was awarded the title of Professor of Sport by the Polish Minister of Sport and Tourism in 2018. When he's not competing professionally, he works as a chess coach and currently serves as FIDE Ratings and Titles consultant. He is also an author for the Polish Chess Federation website and trains students worldwide.
Outside of chess, Macieja graduated from Warsaw University with a Master’s degree in Economics. He displays a passion for praxeology, the science of efficient action, along with history and foreign languages.
