Named after Gyula Breyer. White plays a King's Indian Attack setup with d3, Nd2, Ngf3, g3, Bg2, and 0-0. This is a solid but passive approach that avoids main-line Caro-Kann theory. Black develops naturally with ...d5, ...Nf6, and ...e5 or ...g6, obtaining a comfortable position.
