At 2 minutes per move analysis of a game with say 40 moves of which 20 are outside the openings database would take 80 minutes. Over a few thousand games that starts to use up time and electricity.

I posted over in the "Help" forum about being accused, at the end of a series of four games with the same user, of using a program. Someone suggested I post here and see if Zygalski would analyse the games. I appreciate that I, at 1800 or so, am not quite what he was after, but it would be interesting to see how computer I was in those four games.

I should perhaps mention the background, which is that I've been off the site for the best part of a year after my son was born in October 2012, and took on far too many tournaments when I came back. As a result, I was playing extremely badly, and my rating had dropped somewhat (to around 1600). My opponent was rated almost 2000 at the time of the games.

Zygalski - if you would be kind enough to look at these and put them through your machine, I would be very grateful, but I don't want you to feel obliged.

I think the games are quite interesting anyway - especially the last one, with the very unbalanced material, and the K+P ending with equal material. And odd that the Alekhine leads to the win of a pawn and conversion in the ending, and the Caro-Kann to wild imbalance and attacks on opposite sides of the board.

The number one reason people are accused of using computers on the site is that chess players need some kind of external explanation for why they lost.

It's a communal character flaw we all share to one degree or another.

I was accused by a 1900 of engine use once for getting a draw against him.

I told him if I was really willing to use an engine that there's no way he would have gotten a half-point.

That's hands down the most ridiculous one I've gotten.

I can explain this very easy. Poor sportsmanship and sore a loser. Don't waste your time worrying about this guy. The real reason he lost? You outplayed him fair and square.

A fairly decent match rate, but far below human-achievable thresholds.
Although the sample size is about 1/5 that which this method was deigned for, from what I can tell from these games it is unlikely an engine was used & if it was, then it certainly was not used in any blatant way whatsoever.

Well I decided to analyse the current top player on the site to see how engine-like their play is.
The games were chosen in a transparent objective way & met the usual game selection criteria.
I looked through the completed game history for TheBigKat User 653175 and analysed the most recently completed non-thematic games with 35+ moves where the opponents were rated in excess of 2000.
All database moves were excluded from analysis.

When you follow the full methodology both the very best pre-1990 correspondence World Championship finalists & current OTB Super GM's all have match rates around
Top 1 Match 60%
Top 2 Match 75%
Top 3 Match 85%
+/- a % or so for each T%.
No single benchmark has ever been published for an unassisted human player where 20 objectively chosen games yielding 600+ non-theory moves have exceeded all 3 of the above T-figures.
