Presumably to get away from standard lines and force me to think, but it seem a very dubious idea, even though I have since found examples in my databse. The idea of 2.c3 is to seize the centre and this does not push ahead with that plan.
Now I have wasted the whole opening. This is insipid and I drift without ideas. Winning was Nh3+, whether he takes the Knight and exposes his King, or moves his King to h1. This is because his queesnide pieces are still locked away while I have strong Bishops facing the King, and can quickly get out Queen and Rook. The details don't matter as much as the principle. When you have a good position you have to risk the tactical opportunities while they are there.

By now I actually messaged my opponent saying I had totally run out of ideas and was drifitng.

Maybe a cheap trick: Qxa8? Bxh2+ but no such luck. Bit late to dream up tactical traps.
