this is the reason why i quit the english opening. You either get a ultra symmetrical opening, some random black system, or transposing to the queen's gambit. very little will you get the true 4 knights mainline online. OTB tournaments you will get it every time. I played the english opening in tournaments for 5 months religiously and when i got to the U1400 category USCF in the renaissance knights chess tournaments, everybody transposed to the queens gambit with 1...e6. Kumbaya chess tournaments U1200 section was a different story. Everybody played into the four knights. This is just my opinion so don't think the english is bad just because what i said. It is a nice and complicated opening that even bobby fischer played.
