Igor Štohl is a Slovak chess Grandmaster, born on June 27, 1964. He became a Grandmaster in 1992 and has won several major chess tournaments throughout his career. These include winning the Czechoslovak Championship in 1996 and the Slovak Championship in 2004. He also won the Cappelle-la-Grande Open in 1997.
In addition to his competitive success, Štohl is noted for his contributions to chess literature, particularly for his two-volume work on Garry Kasparov. His insightful analysis of Kasparov's games has earned him high praise in the chess world.
Igor Štohl represents Slovakia in chess Olympiads, a series of team chess tournaments which feature some of the world's top players.
