Kirill Alekseenko is a Russian chess grandmaster who was born on 22 June 1997, in Saint Petersburg, Russia. His most notable achievement was earning the wildcard spot to the runners-up tournament at the 2020 Candidates Tournament. Alekseenko showed his immense talent when he tied for first at the Chigorin Memorial in 2015 and won the event two years later. In 2019, he won the Russian Higher League championship.
He was awarded the title of Grandmaster by FIDE, the international chess federation, in 2015 and is listed as one of the top 100 active players in the world at the time of writing. He was also the joint winner of the World Junior Chess Championship in 2015, showing his meteoric rise within the ranks of chess.
Alekseenko first entered the elite level of competitive chess in 2016 when he competed in his first super tournament as a wild card entry in the Tal Memorial, where he confronted some of the top-rated players in the world. Since then, he has participated in numerous prestigious tournaments and has consistently performed well, highlighting his skill and placing him among the best players in the world.
