Zaven Andriasian is a prominent Armenian chess Grandmaster and a former World Junior Chess Champion. Born on 11th March 1989 in Yerevan, Armenia, Andriasian learned the game of chess at a young age and began his journey to becoming one of Armenia's top players.


He first made his mark on the international scene when he won the Under-12 European Youth Chess Championship in 2000, and the Under-14 World Youth Chess Championship in 2002. His continued success earned him the Grandmaster (GM) title at the age of 16, making him one of the youngest Grandmasters in history.


Andriasian achieved further recognition by winning the World Junior Chess Championship in 2006, which was held in Yerevan, his hometown. In 2009, he also added the Ruy Lopez Chess Festival title to his list of accomplishments.


In the field of team competitions, Andriasian was part of the Armenian chess team that won gold in the 2011 World Team Chess Championship. In addition to this, he also played for the Armenian national team in the 41st Chess Olympiad in 2014.


Equally notable is his contribution as an author. Andriasian has written several chess books, including "Winning with the Najdorf Sicilian: An Uncompromising Repertoire for Black", which was published in 2013.



Despite his numerous achievements, Andriasian remains committed to further development, with his focus on climbing to the top of the world chess rankings.
