Boris Avrukh is an Israeli chess grandmaster, author, and trainer. He was born on February 10, 1978, in Kazakhstan. Avrukh became a FIDE Grandmaster in 1997, making him the youngest GM in Israel at that time. He has earned many accolades during his career, including champion of Israel in 2000 and 2008, winner of the European U20 Championship in 1998, and representative of the Israeli team in numerous Chess Olympiads and European Team Championships, securing several team medals.
In 2011, he shifted his focus from playing competitive chess to writing and coaching, notably publishing two volumes of the book "Grandmaster Repertoire: 1.d4" along with several others under the "1.d4" series. His books are considered groundbreaking and influential in modern chess theory. Boris is currently working as a chess trainer, helping future grandmasters and working with leading Israeli junior players, as well as some international students. He also co-founded GM Boris Avrukh & Alon Greenfeld Chess School in Israel, developing a unique curriculum for each student's personal needs.
