Étienne Bacrot is a French chess Grandmaster and a former chess prodigy. Born on 22nd January 1983, Bacrot started playing chess at four years of age, and by the time he was ten, he was one of the world's leading junior chess players. When he was 14, he became the youngest person to achieve the prestigious Grandmaster title, breaking an earlier record set by the world champion Ruslan Ponomariov. Bacrot earned multiple titles including European Champion in 2002 and 2008, French Champion in 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002, and Junior World Champion in 1996.
Bacrot began his professional career in chess at the age of ten. He was trained by Grandmaster Iosif Dorfman, a Ukrainian-French chess player. Under Dorfman's guidance, Bacrot progressed to win several world championships. He has also competed in the FIDE World Chess Championships and the Chess World Cup.
Throughout his career, Bacrot has played against some of the greatest players in the game, including Grandmasters Magnus Carlsen and Viswanathan Anand. Despite requiring a hiatus from the game due to military service, he has consistently remained within the top 50 chess players in the world.
