Falko Bindrich is a German chess player who holds the grandmaster title. He was born on October 17th, 1990. Bindrich achieved his National Master title in 2005, became an International Master in 2007, and earned his Grandmaster title in 2008. Falko became the second youngest grandmaster from Germany at the time.
He has represented Germany in both national team and international competitions. He played in Chess Olympiads in 2008 and 2012, and contributed to Germany winning sub-tournament B of the World Team Chess Championship in 2010. In the German Chess Bundesliga, Falko played for multiple clubs, catering to both youth and premiere divisions.
He is also known for a controversy that took place during the 2012 Bundesliga season. He was accused of cheating by using software on his smartphone during his game. Following a series of investigations and Bindrich refusing to allow his phone to be inspected, he faced disciplinary action by the German Chess Federation, leading to a prolonged legal dispute. He was subsequently cleared of all charges in court in 2014.
