Pavel Blatný is a Czech Grandmaster of chess who was born on October 30, 1968. As a highly successful competitive chess player, he was twice crowned as the Champion of the Czech Republic – once as a junior in 1988 and once as a senior in 1991. After moving to the United States, he became involved in competitive chess in multiple states, not only winning several tournaments but also educating and inspiring many young players. Currently, he lives in New York. He is known for his contributions to chess not only as a player but as a teacher.
His greatest career success came in a match against a team of players from Stuttgart, which earned him the title of International Master in 1988. Other notable achievements include winning the tournament in Jerusalem (1992) and Kladno (1993).
