Vladislav Borovikov is a renowned Russian chess grandmaster, born on May 10th, 1973. In his youth, he won the USSR Junior Chess Championship in 1991. Two years later, in 1993 he won the Russian Junior Chess Championship. His first significant victory as an adult player was at the 1998 Russian Cup. Then he won the Saint Petersburg chess championship in 2004.
Borovikov became an International Master in 1993 and was awarded the Grandmaster title in 2000. He toured widely, competing extensively in tournaments around the world, including Belarus, Bulgaria, Greece, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Spain, Latvia, Macedonia, the Netherlands, and Finland.
Notably, he also served as a second for luminaries like Vladimir Kramnik and Anatoly Karpov. He has contributed significantly in various team events, proudly representing his nation. He was a member of the Russian team that won the European Team Chess Championship in 2007.
Reputed as a brilliant player of the endgame, he was especially skilled at positioning and strategic planning.
