Bruzón was born on May 2, 1982, in Holguín, Cuba. He learned chess at a very young age and quickly rose through the ranks thanks to his exceptional talent. He achieved significant success at junior level, winning the Junior World Chess Championship in 2000.


Bruzón has also performed well at international tournaments such as the Chess Olympiads, where he has represented Cuba multiple times, and the Capablanca Memorial tournament, named after one of Cuba's greatest chess players, José Capablanca. He won this tournament in both 2002 and in 2005.


Bruzón has a reputation for being particularly skilled in endgames. His playing style is considered aggressive, yet highly strategic and tactical. He is particularly known for his exceptional skill in recognizing patterns and positions.


In addition to his competitive career, Bruzón is also a university graduate. He studied physical education and sports at the University of Physical Education and Sports in Havana and graduated with a degree in that field.


Despite his many accomplishments, Bruzón remains relatively unknown outside of the chess community. Unlike many other grandmasters, he maintains a lower profile and tends to stay out of the spotlight.
