Robert Cvek (born February 2, 1979) is a Czech chess player who has the FIDE title of Grandmaster since 2004. He started playing chess while still in primary school, and his knack for the game led him to become champion of the Czech Republic in 1997. Apart from being an active player, he is also involved in chess coaching. He served as a member of the team that trained Norwegian chess prodigy, Magnus Carlsen from 2009 to 2010.

Apart from being a tough player, he also spends a lot of time studying chess, resulting in a deep understanding of the game. He even helped in the development of the artificial intelligence program Rybka, which was, at one time, the strongest chess program in the world.

Robert Cvek played against a variety of competitors around the globe, but one notable instance was when he defeated Grandmaster Levon Aronian of Armenia, in a notable performance at the European Team Championship in 2007.

Cvek is also an excellent writer, having written a multitude of articles and analyses on chess in Czech and foreign journals.
