Stefan Djurić is a Serbian chess Grandmaster and chess author. Born on October 26, 1955, in Subotica, he became a Grandmaster in 1984. Djurić achieved significant victories during his chess-playing career, including the U-16 World Youth Chess Championship in 1971, and he has also represented Yugoslavia in several Chess Olympiads. He has coached chess players, including Alisa Marić, who went on to become one of the top female chess players worldwide.
Djurić has also made significant contributions to chess as an author, with publications such as “Chess Opening Essentials” and “Positional Chess Handbook.” His books aim to provide a detailed guide to openings, middlegame strategies, and endgames, making them helpful resources for both newcomers and experienced players alike.
Despite his significant contributions to the world of chess, Stefan Djurić is also known for other life endeavors. He studied Psychology at the University of Belgrade and later obtained his doctoral degree in Sport Psychology.
