Daniil Dubov is a Russian chess player who holds the title of Grandmaster, achieving it in 2011 at the age of 14. Born in Moscow on April 18, 1996, Dubov has been part of numerous high-profile chess games and tournaments, boasting several successes.

His father, Sergei Dubov, a well-known FIDE Master and chess composer introduced him to the game, and Dubov commenced serious training when he was six. Renowned grandmasters Sergey Shipov and 20th World Champion Anatoly Karpov trained him.

Dubov's initial break in chess came in 2008 when he won the Under-12 section of the World Youth Chess Championship. He achieved the title of International Master in 2011 and claimed the Grandmaster title the same year, becoming one of the youngest Grandmasters in the history of the game.

Daniil Dubov won the Aeroflot Open in 2013, gaining the ability to participate in the 2013 Dortmund Sparkassen Chess-Meeting. In 2016, he won the Russian Championship Superfinal.

At the end of 2018, he won the coveted World Rapid Chess Championship, where he bested famed players like ex-World Champion Vishy Anand and World Number 2, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov.

He also sat on the team of grandmasters who assisted Magnus Carlsen with preparations for the World Chess Championship matches in 2014 and 2018.

At the FIDE Candidates Tournament in 2020, Dubov acted as Ian Nepomniachtchi's second. In the same year, he triumphed over Sergey Karjakin and became World Champion again in the Lindores Abbey Rapid Challenge online tournament.
