Following this accomplishment, he was awarded the prestigious title of Grandmaster in 2001 by the International Chess Federation (FIDE).
His successful run continued in 2002, when he triumphed at the Villa Martelli tournament in Buenos Aires. Later that year, Felgaer competed in the Chess Olympiad in Slovenia, where he scored 7.5 points out of 13 possible points on the Argentinian team.
In 2012, he was particularly successful in various chess competitions. He first won an open tournament in Mar del Plata, Argentina, and shortly afterward, he emerged victorious in another open tournament held in Barcelona, Spain. Towards the end of the year, Felgaer played in the FIDE World Cup, advancing to the third round before being eliminated.
Apart from his exploits in individual chess competitions, Felgaer also played on the Argentinian team that won the silver medal at the 2008 Dresden Chess Olympiad.
