Alexandr Hilário Takeda dos Santos Fier is a Brazilian chess grandmaster who won the South American Chess Championship in 2005. Fier was born on March 11, 1988 in Joinville, Brazil. He started playing chess at a young age and became a National Master by the age of 13. He was awarded the title of Grandmaster in 2007 by FIDE, the international chess federation.
Fier has competed in several international competitions, including the Chess Olympiads and the Pan American Team Chess Championship. His performances have been noted for their aggressive and unpredictable style. He won the Brazilian Chess Championship in 2005 and 2017, the Zonal 2.4 championship three times (2005, 2009, and 2017), and the South American Chess Championship once, in 2005.
In 2009, he won the B tournament of the Cappelle-la-Grande Open. Fier also won the 2012 Brazilian Chess Circuit tournament, the 2015 Floripa Open, and the 2016 Lake Sevan tournament in Armenia.
He is married to Georgian Woman Grandmaster Nino Maisuradze and lives in Tbilisi, Georgia. He is also known as an online player, particularly at bullet chess.
While in Africa to take part in some chess events in 2016, Fier and Maisuradze put forward a project, named ACES Chess Project in Africa, for teaching chess to children in the schools of Ethiopia and Kenya. They eventually developed this project in cooperation with the Kasparov Chess Foundation.
