Dmitry Frolyanov is a Russian chess Grandmaster (GM). Born on April 17, 1986 in Vorkuta, Russia, he earned his Grandmaster title in 2008. Frolyanov was a member of the Russian national youth team that won the U16 Chess Olympiad in 2002.
In 2005, he won the U-20 Championships of Russia in Kazan and joined the Russian national adult team to bag a silver medal at the European Team Chess Championships. The same year, he won a silver medal in the U20 World Championships, too.
In 2007, Dmitry became victorious in Iceland's Reykjavik Open, and shared the first place with Gadir Guseinov in Moscow's prestigious Aeroflot Open 2007B in 2007.
2016 saw him winning his first big international tournament - The 18th Dubai Open Chess Tournament.
Aside from being a competitive chess player, Dmitry is also a chess trainer, who has coached several young chess players who won important youth tournaments locally and internationally. One notable trainee was Volodar Murzin, who won the U12 European Youth Chess Championship in 2017 and 2018 under Frolyanov's guidance.
