Vladimir Georgiev is a Bulgarian chess Grandmaster (GM). He was born on August 27, 1975. He acquired his International Master title in 1995 and became a Grandmaster in 1998. He has won numerous titles and competitions, significantly contributing to the world of chess.
Georgiev has won multiple Bulgarian Chess Championships. He emerged victorious five times in 1995, 1998, 2002, 2004, and 2008. Besides his domestic successes, he also had international achievements. In 2002, he won the Karlstad tournament. In 2004, he won in Gothenburg. He won the Arctic Chess Challenge in Tromsø in 2008, and in 2010 he clinched first place at the International Open in Sevilla.
Georgiev has also represented Bulgaria in several Chess Olympiads. He was included in the national team that participated in the Olympiads that took place from 1996 to 2008.
As a trainer, Georgiev coached Antoaneta Stefanova, who was the Women's World Chess Champion from 2004 to 2006. He has also written a book on chess strategy titled "Play the Scandinavian."
