Pedro Antonio Ginés Esteo is a Spanish chess Grandmaster and one of only a few players in Spain to have earned this title. He was awarded the title of International Master by FIDE in 1993 and earned the Grandmaster title in 1996.
Born on September 10, 1970, in Villanueva de los Infantes, he learned to play chess at the age of five and was instantly captivated by the game. He won the U18 Spanish championship twice, in 1986 and 1987, and also participated in the World U20 chess championship held in Baguio in 1987.
Aside from competitive chess, Esteo also coaches and referees in professional chess games. As a referee, he has officiated over sixty international competitions.
Ginés Esteo has won multiple titles throughout his career, including the Zamora International in 1996, 1998 and 2000, the City of Seville in 1997 and the La Roda Tournament in 1999. He has also represented Spain in four Olympiads and one European Team Chess Championship.
Today, he shares his knowledge of chess with younger generations through training sessions and classes. He continues to play in tournaments as well, thus remaining an active contributor to the world of chess. In 2002 he ceased from participating in official competitions. He currently lives in Alicante where he works as a chess teacher.
