Sahaj Grover is an Indian chess player who garnered the attention of the world chess community with his exceptional skills. He was born on 14 September 1995 in Delhi, India. From a very young age, Grover showed a natural aptitude for the game of chess.
His early years in the sport were marked by a string of significant achievements. In 2005, he claimed the World Under-10 Chess Championship in Belfort, France. He was also crowned champion of the 2006 Asian Youth Chess Championship in New Delhi, India, in the under 12 category. Grover then became India's youngest rated player in 2006 and also clinched the Commonwealth Chess Championship in the under 14 category.
Grover received his FIDE Master title in 2009 before securing his International Master title in 2010. In 2008, he earned a scholarship from an Indian conglomerate for his exceptional talent and performance in chess.
After several strong performances at the international level, Grover received the coveted title of grandmaster in 2012. With this accomplishment, he became one of the youngest grandmasters in the world. He earned this title after securing his third and final GM norm at the World Junior Chess Championship in Athens.
Aside from his titles, Grover has also been a member of the Indian team in the World Team Chess Championship and has participated in the World Youth Chess Championships. He is also widely recognized as one of the strongest young talents in the Indian chess scene.
