Zoltán Gyimesi is a Hungarian chess grandmaster, who was born on 31 March 1977 in Miskolc, Hungary. He received the International Master title in 1996 and the Grandmaster title in 1997. He was Hungarian Chess Champion in 2005. Some of his notable wins include triumphs over Gabriel Schwartzman, Alexey Shirov, Dmitry Andreikin, and Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu.
Gyimesi has represented Hungary in the Chess Olympiads on multiple occasions. He was part of the Hungarian team that won the silver medal at the 2002 Chess Olympiad in Bled. In 2007, at the European Team Chess Championship in Crete, he earned the silver medal with the team and was awarded the individual bronze medal for his performance at board four.
