Jonathan Hawkins is a British chess grandmaster who was born on May 1, 1983. He learned chess at the age of six and went on to earn the title of National Chess Master in 2005, International Master in 2008, and Grandmaster in 2014.
He won the British Championship in 2014 and 2015. In the 2014 championship, he achieved a score of 8.5/11, and in 2015, he achieved 8/11. Hawkins is the first person since Michael Adams to win consecutive British Championships.
In addition to playing, Hawkins wrote a chess guide called "Amateur to IM: Proven Ideas and Training Methods" in 2012, sharing his experiences and training methods that helped him become a strong player. This book has been well received and used as a study guide by many aspiring chess players.
Jonathan Hawkins ceased playing professionally at the end of 2015.
