Gilberto Hernandez Guerrero is a Mexican chess Grandmaster who has several achievements to his name. Born on February 14, 1970, he became a chess FIDE Master in 1991, an International Master in 1992, and a Grandmaster in 1995.


He has earned several titles and won various tournaments in his chess career. His victories include the 1992 Carlos Torre Memorial, three consecutive Mexican Championships (1993, 1995, 1996), the 1998 BinckBank Blitz, and the 2012 Isthmia Open. He has also participated in notable team events, such as the Chess Olympiad, the World Team Chess Championship, and the Pan American Team Chess Championship.


Hernández Guerrero has made significant contributions to chess coaching and broadcasting. Notably, he was the coach of the national junior team of UAE from 2011 to 2013, and then its national men's team from 2017 to 2018. He has successfully coached renowned players such as GM Salem AR Saleh.


He is active in chess broadcasts, providing commentary for major tournaments such as the World Chess Championship and the Candidates Tournament. Specifically, he is a well-known Spanish-language chess broadcaster on Chess. com and Twitch.


In addition to his remarkable achievements in chess, Hernandez Guerrero also holds a degree in International Relations from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Furthermore, he was awarded the National Sports Award granted by the Mexican government in 1995 for his notable achievements in international chess.
