Zbyněk Hráček is a Czech chess grandmaster and one of the most famous Czech chess players, earning his distinction as grandmaster in 1993. He was born in Pardubice, Czechoslovakia on 9th September 1970. He has represented his country in numerous chess tournaments, including 13 Chess Olympiads and the World Team Chess Championship in 2013.


Hráček has achieved many notable victories and high standings in various tournaments over the years. Some of his significant victories include winning the open tournament in Cannes in 2001, the Czech Championship in 2005, and the Czech Rapid Championship in 2007. He also came second in the Hoogeveen tournament in 1999, behind Judit Polgár, and he won the tournament in 2002.


Another significant achievement was in 2001, where he won the silver medal in the European Team Chess Championship, where he played on board two. He won a silver and two bronze medals in the European Individual Chess Championships.


One of Hráček's career highlights is his victory over the World Chess Champion, Garry Kasparov, at the 2001 Donner Memorial Rapid Tournament in Amsterdam.


Hráček is a FIDE Senior Trainer, the highest level of professional chess coach recognized by FIDE.
