Aleksandar Indjić is a Serbian Grandmaster of chess. He was born on November 30, 1995 in Belgrade. Indjić started playing chess at a very early age and made his mark in various youth championships in Serbia and the world. In 2010, he won the Under-16 Serbian Championship and was runner up at the Under-20 Serbian Championship.
Indjić earned the title of Grandmaster (GM) in 2013, at the age of 17, making him one of the youngest ever Serbian chess Grandmasters. In August 2014, he won the Serbian Chess Championship, becoming the youngest ever winner of the event. He accomplished this feat with 8.5 points from eleven games.
Indjić has represented Serbia in Chess Olympiads and European Team Chess Championships, contributing significantly to his country's performance. In October 2021, he won the European Individual Chess Championship with 8 points from 11 games.
However, despite his achievements, Indjić has been largely overlooked by the wider chess community and the media. His winnings and rankings have led to inconsistent sponsorship and financial support, which has limited his ability to participate in high-level international tournaments.
He's renowned as a person of quiet demeanor, who keeps a low profile and prefers to let his chess speak for him. Despite these challenges, Indjić has managed to persevere and continue to win games and titles, making him a significant figure in Serbian chess.
