Lasha Janjghava is a Georgian chess grandmaster recognized internationally for his exceptional chess playing skills. Born on April 13, 1968, he was awarded the International Master title by the International Chess Federation (FIDE) in 1988. He achieved the distinction of being awarded the title of Grandmaster in 1992.
Janjghava has competed in several prominent chess tournaments throughout his career. In 1990, he played in the World Junior Chess Championship and came in third place. He went on to participate in the Georgian Chess Championship in 1993, earning the top spot.
In 2000, Janjghava took second place in the Hastings International Chess Congress, a highly esteemed tournament featuring some of the top players in the world. In the same year, he conquered the Masters side of the North Sea Cup with a notable performance.
Janjghava has contributed to chess literature with his book "The English Attack" (co-authored with Zurab Sturua), published in 2004. The book explores one of the most aggressive modern opening systems, the English Attack, which was often used against Sicilian Defence positions during their play.
