Ju Wenjun is a Chinese chess grandmaster who was born in 1991. She held the Women's World Chess Championship title twice, once from 2018 to 2020, and once from 2020 to 2021. Ju enrolled at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics in 2005 to study International Trade, after her high school education at Shanghai High School.
Ju became a Women's International Master (WIM) in 2006, a Women's Grandmaster (WGM) in 2007. The general chess Grandmaster title was awarded to her in 2014. Across her career, Ju has won many other noteworthy chess titles. She was China's national women's champion in 2010 and 2014, and also helped the Chinese women's team become the world champions at the Chess Olympiad in 2014, 2016, and 2018.
Her victories in the Women's World Chess Championships are particularly notable. In 2016, she was runner-up, and after winning in 2018, she successfully defended her title in 2020. However, she lost the title to Aleksandra Goryachkina in 2021.
