His exceptional talent was apparent from a young age and he gained the grandmaster title on March 22, 2019, at the age of 14 years, becoming the youngest German grandmaster in history.
Keymer earned his first national championship at age nine, becoming the German U10 champion. At the age of 10, he started to play internationally and took the German U12 championship the following year.
In 2016, Keymer took home the U12 European Championship and achieved international recognition by winning the U14 European Blitz Championship a year later. Throughout 2017, he competed in numerous international tournaments continuously, enhancing his skills and performance.
Keymer's significant breakthrough came in April 2018, aged 13, when he won first place in the Grenke Chess Open, beating several grandmasters and with it, attracting global attention. Later that year in December, he became an International Master, closely following this feat with the Grandmaster title a few months later.
As from 2019, Vincent Keymer has been under the guidance of former World Champion, Viswanathan "Vishy" Anand, aligning his training with a globally recognized figure. Despite his young age, Keymer has already accomplished a lot and is viewed as one of the brightest upcoming stars in competitive chess.
