Dimitri Komarov is a Ukrainian chess Grandmaster and FIDE Senior Trainer. Born in Simferopol, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union, on January 1, 1968, Komarov has built a distinguished career, primarily as a coach. He has served as a coach to several significant players such as World Champion Anatoly Karpov, Women's World Champion Zhu Chen, and many other elite players. Komarov also represented Ukraine in several international tournaments, including four Chess Olympiads.


Komarov earned his International Master title in 1989 and soon after, in 1994, achieved the Grandmaster title. He was the winner of several important tournaments, which included taking first place in the championships in Lviv in 1993, Reykjavik op-A in 1997, Abu Dhabi in 1999, and Terrassa in 2007.


He also participated in the FIDE World Chess Championships of 1999 and 2000, where he reached the second round on both occasions. He also took part in the FIDE World Cup in 2005.


As a coach, Komarov has contributed extensively to the development of young talents as a FIDE Senior Trainer since 2005. He trained the Ukrainian youth team and has also worked with many national teams like Qatar and UAE. In addition to his coaching roles, Komarov has also contributed to chess literature, including a book published in 2006.
