Tatiana Kosintseva is a Russian chess Grandmaster and one of the world's top female players. She was born April 11, 1986 in Arkhangelsk, Russia, and her older sister Nadezhda is also an accomplished chess player. Tatiana achieved her Women Grandmaster title in 2001, the International Master title in 2007, and the highly coveted Grandmaster title in January 2009.
Tatiana started playing chess at the age of seven and has since amassed a plethora of awards. She won the gold medal in the 1st European Girls U10 Chess Championship and the Russian Girls U10 championship in 1996. She continued to perform strongly in various age categories including the Girls U14 World Championship in 1999 and the Russian Cup in 2002.
Tatiana represented Russia in numerous international team competitions, including the Women's Chess Olympiad, the World Team Chess Championship, and the European Team Chess Championship. She has often being the leading contributor to Russia's medal-winning performances.
Apart from her playing career, Tatiana is also a chess coach. She finished her studies in economics from Pomor State University in Arkhangelsk, Russia. Despite a break from chess in 2014 due to her pregnancy, she continues to inspire many aspiring chess players and contribute to the chess community.
