Kozák won the Hungarian U10 championship at the age of nine (9) in 2013 with games against advanced chess players up to many years older. Kozák won the U10 in the following year (2014) as well. He gained the FIDE Master title in July 2016, then unlocked the International Master (IM) norm on 8 August 2017 in Balatonlelle, Hungary, at the age of 13.
Kozák studied chess coaching by Tamás Csörgő, who also trained other successful Hungarian and international young chess players, including Iván Rozsa, Sára Sallai, and Kozák's younger brother Bence Kozák. He continues to train under Csörgő today.
