Adam Kuligowski is a Polish chess Grandmaster, born on 8th December 1955 in Warsaw. He gained his International Master title in 1975, becoming a Grandmaster in 1980. Kuligowski achieved his most significant tournament victory at Polanica-Zdrój in 1980, tying first place with Mark Dvoretsky.


He participated in the 1984 and 1988 Polish Chess Championship, but did not achieve a winning position; however, he represented Poland in Chess Olympiads in 1980, 1984 and 1988, taking home the bronze medal in 1980, along with his teammates. During the Olympiads, he scored a total of 16.5 points out of 31.


Adam Kuligowski also competed in international team competitions, and in 1983, he won the team European Championship in Greece with Poland.


Apart from playing, Kuligowski has pursued a career coaching promising young players to help them improve their game and achieve international success. After moving to Spain, he coached the national youth team of Spain, leading them to win six medals in different World and European youth championships. His students have included notable players such as Grandmaster Manuel Perez Candelario and International Master Daniel Alsina Leal.
