Davorin Kuljašević is a Croatian Grandmaster of chess. He was born on September 29, 1986, in Zagreb. An International Master since 2006, Kuljašević earned the prestigious Grandmaster title in 2009.
Kuljašević began his chess career early, playing competitively in his youth. His biggest achievements are winning Croatian Junior Championships in 2000 (under-14), 2001 (under-20), Croatian Rapid Championship in 2009, and the Mediterranean Championship in 2010. He also represented Croatia in the World Junior Chess Championships and several European Chess Championships.
Besides being a competitive player, Kuljašević is also known for his role as a trainer and author. His debut book "Chess Understanding" was published in 2009. In it, he discusses his personal approach to chess, aiming to help readers improve their understanding of the game.
Kuljašević studied English Language and Literature as well as Philosophy at the University of Zagreb. His love for languages later led him to learn Spanish which played a large role in his decision to move to Mexico in 2013.
He represents Mexico in international competitions, becoming one of the top chess players in the country. He coached chess in Mexico City, taught chess strategy at a Mexican online university and ran chess blogs in English and Spanish.
