Kateryna Lagno is a Ukrainian-born Russian chess Grandmaster, born on December 27, 1989 in Lviv, Ukraine. She earned her Grandmaster title in 2002, making her the youngest female to achieve this status at the time.

Lagno’s significant victories include winning the World Girls Under-16 Championship in 2002 and three consecutive European Individual Chess Championships for women from 2005 to 2007. She also led the Ukrainian team to victory in the 2006 Women's Chess Olympiad.

In 2014, she switched federation from Ukraine to Russia after marrying Russian Grandmaster Alexander Grischuk. Her switch sparked a controversy, requiring arbitration by FIDE, but was approved.

As part of the Russian team, Lagno helped the team win gold in the Women's Chess Olympiad in 2014 and silver in the Women's European Team Championship in 2015.

She represented Russia again in 2018 and won the Women's World Blitz Chess Championship. In 2019, she reached the finals of the Women's World Chess Championship where she lost to Ju Wenjun.

Kateryna Lagno is currently one of the top-ranking female chess players in the world.
