Ivan Leventić is a Croatian Chess Grandmaster and FIDE trainer. Born on May 16, 1980 in Split, Croatia, he was introduced to chess in 1987 through a chess program for children led by chess master Darko Jovanović. Leventić achieved the title of International Master (IM) in 2001 and became a Grandmaster (GM) in 2014.
He won several significant chess tournaments, including Pula in 2014, Županja in 2014, and Osijek in 2015. In a match against Dmitry Jakovenko at the Tromsø Olympiad in 2014, he celebrated a meaningful victory that allowed him to reach the chess grandmaster title.
In addition to being an accomplished player, Leventić is a successful chess coach. He became a FIDE trainer in 2009 and has coached chess players of varying qualifications and skill levels, some of whom went on to become International Masters and Grandmasters. He has also worked as a coach in several chess camps across the world and hosted various training programs.
