Magaram Magomedov is a Russian chess player who was awarded the title of Grandmaster (GM) by Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE), the international chess federation, in 1994.
Raised in Dagestan, Russia, Magomedov was born on March 12, 1968. He embarked on his chess career with success at a young age. He became the champion of Dagestan in 1987, followed by the champion of North Caucasus in 1989. He then won the Russian Championship (RSFSR) in 1991.
Magomedov's international experience includes various prestigious chess events. He was a contender in the FIDE World Chess Championship 1999, but was out in the first round. Among his notable victories are the Chigorin Memorial in 1994 and the Alekhine Memorial in Voronezh, 1996, 1998, and 2003.
Although he does not have an extensive list of significant tournament wins, Magomedov is admired for his creative style and approach to the game.
