Ilan Manor is an Israeli chess International Master (IM) and FIDE Trainer. Born in Tel Aviv, Israel in 1972, he started playing chess at the age of five. He was coached by his father, who was also an avid chess player. A prominent figure in the chess world, Manor was awarded the title of International Master in 1992 and FIDE Trainer in 2005. Over the years, he has won many national and international chess tournaments.
Ilan Manor is well-known for his impressive chess skills, but he is also a respected chess coach and trainer. He has contributed significantly to the development of chess in Israel by nurturing young talents and promoting the game. His most famous student is probably Grandmaster Boris Gelfand, who was the Challenger in the World Chess Championship 2012.
Apart from chess, Manor has also pursued a career in academia. He holds a PhD in Diplomacy Studies from the University of Oxford, and lectures at Tel Aviv University. His main research interests include digital diplomacy, public diplomacy, and the evolution of diplomacy in the digital age. He has authored numerous articles and books in this field.
