Haik M. Martirosyan is an Armenian chess Grandmaster who was born on 4th July, 2000. He showed talent in chess from an early age and earned recognition on the national and global stages.
Martirosyan receives the title of Grandmaster in 2017, subsequent to acquiring the International Master title in 2015. He competed in the Chess World Cup 2017, and was eventually knocked out in the second round by Baskaran Adhiban. He also competed in the Chess World Cup 2019, but was knocked out in the first round by Igor Lysyj.
Martirosyan notably represented Armenia in the 43rd Chess Olympiad in 2018. The Armenian team finished 9th out of 185 teams. He also played for the Armenian team that won the gold medal in the World Team Chess Championship in 2018, and he won an individual silver medal on board four.
He finished third in the Armenian Chess Championship in 2019. From 26th May-2nd June 2020, Martirosyan participated in the FIDE Online Nations Cup, playing for Team Europe.
By November 2020, Martirosyan was ranked the 8th best player in Armenia and the 192nd best player in the world, reflecting his emergence as a rising star of international chess.
