Eduard Meduna was a Czechoslovakian chess Grandmaster. He was born on September 14, 1936 in Czechoslovakia, and died on July 28, 2009.

Meduna was known for his significant contributions to the field of chess in Czechoslovakia, and was consistently ranked among the country's top players. In the 1960s and 1970s, he was a regular participant in the Czechoslovak Chess Championship, and had a string of strong performances.

In Chess Olympiads, he represented his country several times, and was part of the team that won a silver medal in 1972. In that same year, he achieved his greatest success when he was awarded the title of Grandmaster, the highest honour in the world of chess.

As a player, he was noted for his aggressive style. He was a versatile player who could play a variety of openings. However, his career was periodically marred by periods of poor health, which limited his participation in some competitions.

In addition to his chess career, he was also a respected teacher, coaching a number of other top Czech players. He was also an author, with several published books on chess theory.

Meduna was widely respected for his contributions to chess in the Czech Republic. His passing in 2009 was marked by tributes from the international chess community.
