Vigen Mirumian (born March 4, 1960) is an Armenian International Chess Grandmaster. His father was a civil engineer and his mother was a doctor. He participated in various chess tournaments and successfully achieved multiple international titles and awards.


Mirumian grew up in the Soviet Union and started playing chess at the age of 7. He won the Soviet Union Junior Championship in 1978. In 1980, he became a Soviet Army Champion, and in 1984 he earned the title of Master of Sports of the USSR. The same year, he won the Armenian Championship.


He earned his International Master title in 1985 and went on to win multitudes of international competitions throughout Europe, often achieving the highest score. Playing for the Armenian national team, he won two silver medals in 1986 and one bronze in 1988 at the Chess Olympiads.


Mirumian achieved his International Grandmaster title in 1992. He moved to Greece in 1993 and won the Greek Championship three times in the subsequent years. Since 2000, he has been working as a chess trainer.


Mirumian has also authored several books on chess, including "Chess: The Art of Positional Evaluation" and "The Technique of Chess Analysis". His writing primarily focuses on strategy, critical evaluations, and endgame concepts. The articles have been acclaimed in many countries.
