Karsten Muller is a German chess Grandmaster and author known for his extensive knowledge of endgame theory. He was born in Hamburg, Germany, on November 23, 1970. In the FIDE World Chess Championship 2002, he reached the last 16 before being defeated by Viswanathan Anand.
Muller has written extensively about chess, with over 60 chess books to his credit. His books primarily revolve around the endgame, where he is considered to be one of the resources most frequently quoted. His works include Revolutionize Your Chess, Magic of Chess Tactics, and Fundamental Chess Endings, co-written with Frank Lamprecht.
Müller has developed his own endgame databases and has produced a DVD series on the endgame for ChessBase where he is an editor for the chess magazine. He also has his own chess column where he has been systematically teaching about the endgame since 2001.
