Ni Hua is a Chinese chess grandmaster who stood out as China's number one in 2008. Born on May 31, 1983, he obtained the title of Grandmaster in 2002 and became the 17th player from China to do so. Ni Hua has had multiple accomplishments in his chess career, such as winning the under-14 group in the FIDE World Youth Chess Championship in 1997, winning the 2nd Dato’ Arthur Tan Malaysia Open chess championship in 2004, and the 7th Asian Individual Chess Championship in 2005.
In 2006, he appeared in China's chess Olympiad team and his team came 2nd. The following year, he helped the Shanghai Sharks win the Chinese Chess League. Ni Hua was the individual winner of the men's event at the 16th Asian Games and the national champion of China in 2011. He also led his team to victory in the 2013 Asian Indoor-Mind Games. In the same year, he shifted to a coach role for the Shanghai chess team.
In 2018, Ni Hua led the Chinese national team to their first gold at the 43rd Chess Olympiad. He is currently one of the elite chess grandmasters in China.
